Lot 291

Lot Description

Russian silver bud vase of tapering form, crudely engraved with foliage and initials within a scrolled cartouche, with knopped stem leading to a spreading circular base.  Struck with various marks including the Kokoshnik mark (with a left facing head and with the standard number 84 to her left) and possible maker's mark.  Height measures 5 1/2 inches (14cm), weight 1.9 ozt (60.9 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The vase is heavily tarnished and displays general wear and surface marks and scratches.  There are also remnants of polish in some areas.  There are some minor nicks and some small dints in the metal, especially around the top rim and foot rim so that both are now slightly misshapen.  There are various struck marks around the top and two further marks to the underside of the foot, most are rubbed but still legible.  Maker's mark is possibly for Yuka Lozinsky (Moscow 1892-1908).
