Lot Description
A 1950's silver coronation spoon with planished finish and crown terminal. Hallmarked Sheffield 1953 and made by Joyce Rosemary Himsworth. Length measuring 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm), weight 24 grams.
Joyce Rosemary Himsworth (1905-1990) was a designer silversmith born in Sheffield. Beginning her career at an early age working with her father crafting small spoons and items of jewellery. Himsworth went on to study at Sheffield School of Art focusing on enamel work and jewellery manufacture. Himsworth became a member of the Sheffield Artcrafts Guild in 1925 and later studied under H.G. Murphy at the Central School of Arts, London, she also taught at art colleges in Rotherham and Chesterfield.

The spoon displays general scratches, marks and tarnishing. Numerous heavy scratches, dints and pits visible to the spoon. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
