Lot Description

Early Victorian silver kidney shape toast rack, with six divisions, the central scrolling handle with engraved crest and with a scroll and foliate border to the shaped rectangular base leading to four feet with conforming decoration.  Hallmarked London 1841 (maker's mark obscured).  Maximum length measuring 6 3/4 inches (17cm), weight 12.2 ozt (379.5 grams).

The toast rack displays general scratches, marks, dints, wear and tarnishing overall commensurate with the age and use. Two splits are visible to each side of one corner. The toast rack does wobble when sat on a flat surface. The hallmarks lightly rubbed but easily legible, makers mark almost completely distorted but possibly a Barnard mark with a quatrefoil shape visible and the top of a EB?.
