Lot Description

George III silver mustard pot of pierced oval form with reeded borders, domed lid, oval thumb piece and blue glass liner. Hallmarked Charles Chesterman II London 1796. Height including thumb piece 3 1/4 inches (8 cm), gross silver weight 2.5 ozt (80 grams).

The mustard pot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some of the engraved detail to the body has rubbed. Areas of repair visible, particularly visible down the back seam. There is a small tear to the silver on the body. The blue glass liner appears in good condition. The hallmarks to the underside are clear and legible, the makers mark partly distorted, the standard mark and makers mark to the lid are clear and legible.
