Lot Description

A George IV silver snuff box of rectangular form, flush hinge set lid, the body decorated with hammered and pricked decoration, central name engraved lid and gilt interior. Hallmarked John Shaw Birmingham 1821. Measuring 2 3/8 inches (6 cm) by 1 1/2 inches (4 cm), weight 1.3 ozt (42 grams).

The snuff box displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some of the definition of the decoration has rubbed. A few shallow dints. The gilt interior displays wear in keeping with the age and use. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
