Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver candlesticks formed as tapered Corinthian columns with oblique acorns swags and raised above square bases with borders of acanthus leaf frieze. Hallmarked D & M Davis (David & Maurice Davis) London 1896. Height measuring 13 1/4 inches (33.5 cm).

The candlesticks displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Remnants of old polish to the recesses. Numerous minor dints visible, particulaly around the base. The nozzles are currently fixed in position, one sitting higher than the other. The felt to the underside appears very worn. The hallmarks lightly rubbed but legible.
