Lot Description
A sapphire and ruby brooch. Designed as a series of oval-shape rubies within a star or heart-shaped surmount suspended from an oval and circular-shape sapphire crescent line with similarly-shaped ruby trefoil terminations. Length 3.7cms.

Condition Report
The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There is general discolouration and tarnish. The pin and clasp are replacements with soft solder. The pin has French assay marks. The sapphires are not well matched, one appears darker and has strong colour zoning with large areas of colourless gem. The sapphires are a purplish blue through greenish blue. The sapphires have moderate abrasion and scratches with some glue-like substance to some gems. The rubies The rubies are not well matched and have significant abrasion with some cracks, chips and surface features. Unhallmarked. Weight 6.3gms.
