Lot Description

A late Victorian ruby and diamond band ring, circa 1870. The oval-shape rubies to the old-cut diamond spacers and plain band. Stamped 18ct. Weight 7gms.

The overall condition is fair. There are minor dents and scratches to the mount and the shank has split where it may have been sized or repaired. The diamonds are bright. The rubies vary in colour from a light to dark pinkish red. The facet edges are rubbed. The inside of the ring is engraved 'Margaret Bird died 21 Aug 1875'. Ring size M.
