A ram's head ivory letter opener, the shaped blade with textured openwork surmount realistically modelled as a ram's head terminal with dyed chalcedony eyes. Touchstone tests as high carat gold. Length 8 1/8 inches (20.8cm). With fitted case.

The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. The tip of the ivory blade has a small nick. The ivory shows slight discolouration with small scuffs and scratches. The ram's head is very finely detailed, believed to be 22ct gold. Weight 74.1 grams.
