Lot Description
George III silver vinaigrette of rectangular form with canted corners, engraved diaper decoration and central initial engraving, opening to reveal a gilt interior with acorn and oak tree engraved and pierced grille. Hallmarked Thomas Phipps, Edward Robinson & James Phipps London 1814. Length measuring 34 mm, weight 25.3 grams.

Condition Report
The vinaigrette displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A minor dint visible to one corner with a couple of deeper scratches. The hinge is loose and does not keep the lid shut. The gilt displays general wear. Th ehinge to the grille is a little loose. The hallmarks clear and legible, the makers mark a little rubbed to the base.
