Lot Description

Masonic silver medal 1896, London, Hugh Owen Lodge No. 2593, Consecrated 14th February 1896, Britannia gives alms to poor family, rev. engraved legend, 38mm. Very fine.

Sir Hugh Owen (1804-1881), Welsh education pioneer and chief founder of Aberystwyth University College. He was also involved with the Poor Law Commission.
