"Chevreuil", a 19th Century French animalier bronze of a female roe deer

Pierre Jules Mene, (1810-1879)

Modelled in standing pose with head lowered and drinking from a pool, cast signature in the naturalistic leafy base "P. J. MENE", additionally signed "Susse Fres Ed" and with stamp "SUSSE FRERES FONDEURS PARIS", green-brown patination, 9" wide x 7" high, (23cm x 18cm), on a later plinth
