A rare early 19th Century inlaid mahogany-cased single-fusee drop-dial wall timepiece with wooden dial
Anonymous, circa 1820
Having a 12-inch cream-painted convex Roman dial with moon hands, the knopped four-pillar movement with shouldered plates, the case having a spun bezel and convex glazing within moulded frame and shaped 'ears' flanking brass stringing, over base door, 56cm, (22") high, sold with pendulum and later winder

Condition Report
Dial - has vertical grain cracking and some flaking to edges, fading to numerals, chipping around windeing arbour.#
Movement - unmarked but appears sound, no alterations apparent.
Case - has losses to veneer around pendulum viewing door, this hinged door is also missing its mouldings. Some inlaid decoration is also missing. Cat gut string replaced with steel cable.
