Lot Description
Two late 19th century brooches. The first designed as a woven hair and oval chalcedony panel with foliate embossed mounts, the second of circular outline, the split pearl inset to the sphere within a blue enamel star surround with bead and rope twist detail. Unhallmarked. Weight 26.4gms.

Condition Report
The lot is in fair overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The chalcedony brooch has small losses to the hair panel surround. The mounts show wear to the gold plating. The clasp and pin show various soft solder repair. The circular-shape brooch touchstone tests as 9ct gold and has significant tarnish/discolouration. There are shallow dents to the rim. Weight 8.1gms. The enamel has large, shallow surface chips. The split pearl has a horizontal split across its length.
