Lot Description
A late 18th century mourning brooch. The marquise-shape sepia miniature depicting a woman leaning on an urn beneath a weeping willow, to the beaded surround. Personal inscription to reverse reads 'Mary Durston ob 9 Oct 1796 Ae 68 eu 31 oct'. Length 2.5cms. See Plate 5.

Condition Report
The lot is in fair condition. There are scratches to the piece in keeping with overall wear. There are some dents to the back of the brooch and areas of discolouration. The back pin is metal and has been replaced at a later date. There are some scratches to the glass, the sepia miniature is in good condition. Weight 3.3gms.
