Lot Description

A Victorian bog oak brooch and a jet brooch, circa 1850. The first depicting a gloved hand holding a floral wreath, the second bar brooch with graduated faceted detail. The first with registry of design mark, dated 18th May 1854. Lengths 7cms and 5cms.

Both brooches are in overall good condition. The registry of design mark is fairly clear to the reverse of the first brooch. A few of the letter dates are a little worn. The brooch pin has broken off. The brooch pin to the second brooch is painted black. Areas are starting to flake off. The faceted panels have worn. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age.
