Lot Description
A cased MBE, awarded to F/Lt H R Rocky, Extremely fine. Includes photocopies of congratulatory correspondence form Buckingham Palace and RAF Headquarters.
A typed note from the recipient’s family explains that F/Lt Rocky was involved in making good Gatow airport near Berlin as a Supply Officer in readiness for the Potsdam conference of 1945. F/Lt Rocky efforts are believed to include commandeering a train, foraging for required supplies and traveling to Paris to collect consumables for the Potsdam conference. F/Lt Rocky had joined the RAF in 1922, and served aboard HMS Argus, HMS Hermes and in Iraq. He was discharged in 1934 but recalled at the outbreak of war.
