HMS Bramble: a wooden commemorative spoon. The ovoid bowl inscribed 'HMS BRAMBLE MURMANSK USSR 16.5.42", the tapering handle inscribed "...BY EDINBURGH SURVIVOR", 7.25", (18.5cm) long, together with a Christmas card from HMS Exeter, of gatefold form with embossed crest and ribbon, enclosing monochrome photograph and printed greetings, (2). HMS Bramble was a Halcyon-class minesweeper launched in 1938, and sunk by German ships in 1942 in the Battle of the Barents Sea. The spoon was given to the current owner's father, a serving officer who was relieved of duty and went ashore the night before the sinking of the Bramble resulting in the loss of life of all crew.

Condition Report
The handle terminal is crude and may have been shortened. Part of the inscription is rubbed. The bowl has a dark scratch and general wear but the inscription is still legible.
The card is slightly grubby from handling but is otherwise intact.
