George Ernest Studdy, (1878-1948). Bonzo the dog chasing a cricket ball, wearing a muzzle and watched by bemused cricketers,
an original watercolour, signed lower left, 12" x 19", (30.5cm x 48cm), in card mount, framed under glass George Studdy's famous creation 'Bonzo' first appeared in 1922, and at the height of his popularity in 1924/25, twenty-six 10-minute cartoon films were produced.
The published print of this original watercolour was titled "The Hit Of The Season"; it is assumed that it may have been published by ‘The Field’ as one of at least two special mounted prints.

Condition Report
Slight browning/discolouration. There are a number of spots/spatters but these appear to be paint effect rather than damage. The frame is a later pine example and has significant edge damage which would necessitate reframing.
