Lionel Dalhousie Robertson Edwards, RI, RCA, (1878-1966). "Miss Helen Mulliner, Clifton Court, nr Rugby", a portrait of a young woman, dressed in top hat and black jacket, holding a crop and bag, seated sidesaddle upon a chestnut hunter before a fence and wood, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1934 lower right, entitled in pencil verso, 19.5" x 30", (49.5cm x 76cm), in swept gilt frame. Similar works, featuring ladies in matching dress and sidesaddle pose, were sold by Christie's, New York 1st December 1999 lot 145, and South Kensington, 27th June 2011 lot 67.

Woods to background are quite thinly painted - otherwise in good original order. Small edge depletion to back of canvas where it meets stretcher - entitling in pencil is missing lower edge of text where loss to canvas occurs.
Frame has a number of losses to gesso piercing.
