An early 19th century oval painted portrait miniature. Side profile half length study of a lady in black dress with lace ruff style collar, together with another similar larger example

Each is stained heavily and discoloured. Each has some foxing and surface scratches. The black rectangular frame is badly damaged with surface crazing and losses, damage to corners, etc. The first portrait has been put into the frame at a later date as the image does not fully fit the aperture
