Lot Description

A signed second quarter 19th century brass skeleton timepiece by G. V. Blunt of London. Having a 4.25" pierced brass Roman chapter ring with outer minute markings framing moon hands, wheels of six crossings and chain-driven single-fusee movement with anchor escapement, the frame of six balustroid pillars encased by a scroll 'Christmas Tree' design, the lowest scrolls engraved "G. V. Blunt London", on a rosewood base with bun feet, 10.75", (27.5cm) high overall.

Dial - some losses to wax blacking. Could have been silvered.

Movement - untouched, needs a clean. Crutch slightly bent. Main wheel is of five crossings, not six.

Frame - some file marks to spire surmount, otherwise good. No dome.
