A George III silver cruet.

Lot Description
A George III silver cruet of pierced circular form, beaded rims and central tapered stem and open work handle, the body raised on three claw and ball feet, hallmarked Sheffield 1775, fitted with five associated glass casters and bottles, mostly unmarked one mount hallmarked Fenton, Creswick & Co (Matthew Fenton, Richard Creswick & William Watson) 1776. Height measuring 8 3/4 inches (22.5 cm), gross weighable silver 11.2 ozt (350 grams).
The cruet was previously sold by Henry Spencer & Sons who held an auction of silver from the Cutlers' company collection at Cutlers' Hall, Sheffield circa1980. The lot includes a newspaper report of the sale, the cruet in particular mentioned and illustrated.

Condition Report
The cruet displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Holes have worn through to the underside of the base, repairs visible to where the stem meets the handle. The glass bottles display small minor chips, nibbles and abrasion scratches. The decoration to the mounts on the glass bottles is rubbed with some loss of detail. The hallmarks to the underside of the base appear a little distorted but legible, the makers mark appears as OAHI? One hallmarks to one of the mounts on the bottles appears distorted and rubbed but legible.
