Lot 23

Lot Description

George III small silver mug of tapering form, with gadrooned rim and raised reeded central band to main body above an engraved monogram, with reeded rim detail to flat bottomed base and an angular handle.  Hallmarked London 1812, maker possibly Thomas Johnson.  Height measures 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm), weight 2.7 ozt (84 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Mug displays general wear, tarnishing and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  Various nicks and small dints to the main body.  Gadrooned rim is slightly misshapen.  Appears to be a repair to one side of the base rim.  Impressions from the handle joins are visible to the interior, as is the seam line.  Hallmarks and maker's marks are partly distorted but just about legible.
