Lot Description
A mid Victorian silver presentation trowel, the presentation inscription within a scrolling foliate engraved surround, to the scrolling embossed filled silver handle. Hallmarked Francis Higgins II, London 1864. Length 14 1/2 inches (36.8 cm), Gross weight 12.52 ozt (389.45 grams).

Condition Report
The lot is in fair to good overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The presentation script reads "Presented by the building committee. C.S. Hannington, Esq, on the occasion of his laying the memorial stone of the St Luke's sunday and week day schools. Nov 14th 1864." There is general tarnish with minor black spot discolouration. The tip of the handle is missing. The makers mark to the trowel appears indistinct, possibly erased.
