Lot Description

A stainless steel automatic gentleman's Royal Navy issue Oyster Perpetual Submariner wrist watch by Rolex circa 1970, black dial with luminous hour markers, encircled "T" Tritium marking, outer minute track, "sword" hands, tonneau shaped case, the back engraved with 0552/923-7697 and a British broad arrow above 795-72, reference number 5513, serial number 2940836, fitted to an associated green "NATO" nylon strap, signed twenty-six jewel calibre 1520. Case width 41mm.


This particular watch was issued in the late 1970s to a diving supervisor stationed at HMS Dolphin in Gosport, at that time home of the Royal Navy Submarine Service.

Rolex bracelet watch, movement is functioning, dial has some marks visible but generally in fair condition, luminous paint work appears slightly discoloured, hands show marks and luminous paint work is discoloured, glass is scratched and shows dirt visible to edge, case is scratched from use, case back is scratched, bezel is scratched from use and there is noticeable scratches and damage to bezel insert, watch fitted to nylon strap which shows signs of fraying and metal bars and pin buckle show surface scratches.


This lot does not come with box or papers.


Due to the opening of the case back we recommend that this lot be resealed by an authorised technician before use near water.
