Lot Description
A late 19th century shell cameo brooch. The shell carved to depict Romanesque warriors and rearing horses looking back toward women and children, within a period foliate engraved scrolling surround. Length 6.3cms.

Condition Report
The lot is in fair overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The surround has some more noticeable dents. The surround shows various soft solder repairs. The sides of the mount, clasp and hinge are believed to be later replacements/additions. The pin is base metal. The shell shows wear to the detail of the figures. The shell has fine cracks running across the length of the cameo. Weight 18.9gms.
