The lot is in fair to good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The band has been repaired/resized to the back of the band with a line visible. There is a small crumpled split to one of the shoulders at the deepest section of one of the shells. The piece is believed to have been converted from a fob seal, the band converted from elements of the fob pedestal. There is an associated small repair to one side of the carnelian mount with slight pitting and a slightly differently coloured metal. The other side of the mount is bent slightly from wear as a ring. The carnelian is in good condition with moderate scratches and small nicks to the intaglio edges. Washington is depicted in period coat and cravat, with a chain around his neck. The carnelian measures 15 by 13mms. Ring size I 1/2.
