Lot Description
A 17th century embroidered wirework bag or 'burse'. English, probably circa 1600-1650, of hemispherical form, decorated to each face in gilt and silvered thread with naive Royal Arms, the lion and unicorn flanking a crowned medallion with cross of St George, the backing with sequinned embellishment, the draw-string with hardstone terminals to the tassels, later lining, 8" wide x 5" high, (20cm x 13cm).

Condition Report
Purple stitching to highlights of lion and unicorn faces is very bright and likely to be later, as remainder of bag is of fairly muted 'old gold' colour. Some rubbing to top (above drawstring) and losses to wirework surrounding main panels. Lining later.
