A Japanese Katana sword, the curved steel blade with shaped bronze tsuba, the removable handle revealing impressed character marks, the sheath and handle covered with relief moulded gilt metal panels, decorated with lotus leaves, overall length 40.5" (103cm)

Blade length 35.25" (89.5cm), handle removed. Heavy wear to metal capping cover many dents and creases, the attached rope and fabric 'pattern' on pommels are damaged and loose. Blade is rusted with some edge marks. Minor loss to tip of blade.
We believe the scabbard and grip have the mon for the Tokugawa Shoguns/clan which apparently was a protected mon
