A 19th century Canton carved ivory chess set. Natural and red stained, the white King and Queen modelled as a the emperor and empress, she with rui sceptre and fly whisk, the bishops holding fans, the knights as cavalrymen, the rooks as castled elephants, the red King with coolie hat and rui sceptre, the Queen with fan and fly whisk, the 4.5" (11.5cm) high in a later mahogany wall display cabinet

White - King - hair crack to beard
White - Queen - hair crack from chin to foot. One curve of flywhisk detached but present.
White - Bishops - very good condition
White - Knights - very good condition
White - Rooks - two hair cracks to base of one
White - Pawns - one hair cracked
Red - King - some rubbing
Red - Queen - two minor chips to rear
Red - Bishops - 1" crack to rear of one, small crack to base of other, also at rear
Red - Knights - crack to one shoulder
Red - Rooks - very good condition
Red - Pawns - chip to base of one, another four missing stick
