Lot Description
Two antique needlework samplers. The first by Mary Coxon, aged 9 years 1765, worked with typical alphabetical and numerical samples plus verse, 13" x 12.25" (33cm x 31cm), later framed and glazed. The second by Caroline Sayer, aged 14 years 1834, worked with trees, plants, flowers and birds including peacocks around verse, 17" x12.5" (43cm x 32cm), framed and glazed.

Condition Report
1. Three letters restitched. A small hole to centre right edge, another to the lower right corner. Modern frame.
2. Central fold. Scattered dark marks which are mainly to the top half. Frame is old but not original.
