Lot Description

A late 19th century French 18ct gold hardstone cameo brooch. Carved to depict the profile of a lady, within a rope twist surround. French assay marks. Length 4.9cms.

Overall condition good. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age. The French assay mark is clear under magnification. The cameo is intricately carved in high relief. Soft solder marks can be seen to the inner rim of the back of the brooch. The hardstone cameo is carved in an opaque white on a translucent light brownish grey ground.
