Lot Description

Edwardian silver sauce boat of quatrefoil form, with gadrooned rim, scroll handle with flat thumb piece and raised above four paw feet, hallmarked London 1903, maker probably Walter & Charles Sissons, maximum length measuring 6 1/8 inches (15.5 cm);  together with two slightly later silver sauce boats, each of plain bulbous form with frilled rim and standing on three feet, one missing a handle and hallmarked Chester 1910, the other hallmarked Birmingham 1929. Combined weight 11.1 ozt (345 grams). (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All three sauce boats display general wear, some tarnishing and general surface marks, scratches and nicks.  On Edwardian sauce boat, hallmarks are very clear but maker's mark is partly distorted.  The 1929 example has several surface dints and one quite large one, also the top of one of the feet has been pushed in so that an impression is visible to the interior.  Also some splits visible around the rim.  Hallmarks are legible.  On the Chester sauce boat, the handle has completely broken off.  Hallmarks are clear and legible.
