Lot 411

Lot Description

Nineteenth century German presentation cup, the campana shaped cup with decorative flutes and panelled sides, above a twisted branch stem and leading to a hexafoil base with conforming panelled decoration.  Struck to the base with the German 750 fineness mark 12 Löth, and a further struck mark.  Maximum height measures 11 inches (28 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Item displays general wear, surface marks and scratches and all over tarnishing.  Various minor nicks and surface dints in the metal, especially to the base.  The base also displays various splits in the metal, around the edges.  The branch like stem is possibly not original to the piece.  It is possible to see where it has been pushed into the underside of the cup and there is a protruding screw.  The fineness mark is clear and legible, the other mark is possibly a maker's mark but not too clear.
