Lot Description

A pair of George II Scottish silver open salts embossed with flowers and foliage and raised above three hoof feet, one a/f. Hallmarked Edinburgh 1744 with the maker’s mark I.K tentatively attributed to John Kincard. Gross combined weight 6 ozt (189 grams).

The salts display general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. One salt does display significant damage with some splits and creases to the base, also with some heavy abrasion marks to the interior. The feet also display some compression to the interior. The gilt interiors remain bright. The cartouche are vacant. The hallmarks heavily rubbed.
