Lot 498

Lot Description

Late Victorian silver set of six commemorative spoons, each with embossed monarch head to bowl and rope twist stem leading to a finial modelled as a profile bust of Queen Victoria, hallmarked S Blanckensee & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1896;  together with two silver gilt reproduction anointing spoons, the larger example hallmarked Mappin & Webb, London 1910, the smaller one hallmarked London 1909, and a set of six other spoons with figural terminals and stamped 925.  Combined weight 4.64 ozt (144.3 grams). (14).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All of the spoons display general wear and surface marks and scratches.  On the set of six Victorian spoons, the bowls appear quite thin in places, especially towards the tips, and some of them have several dints around the edge.  Hallmarks are a little distorted in places but still legible.  There is quite a lot of damage to the other set of six spoons and one spoon in particular has broken and is now in two parts.
