Lot Description

A pair of late eighteenth century/early nineteenth century Scottish silver sugar tongs of plain initialled form, part hallmarked, possibly Alexander Spence Edinburgh. Together with three Scottish silver teaspoons with initialled terminals, hallmarked Edinburgh 1810 with the maker's mark AR, a pair of Edwardian silver sugar nips, a pair of Edwardian silver teaspoons, a silver plated caddy, condiment and fruit spoon and a miniature silver trophy cup. Gross weighable silver 5.7 ozt (180 grams).

All items have general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. The three Scottish spoons are in fair condition with clear engravings and hallmarks, the bowls quite worn and dimpled. The pair of Edwardian teaspoons are hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd London 1902, one spoon has a gilded bowl.  Both sugar tongs are quite tarnished, the smaller is hallmarked Joseph & Richard Griffin Chester 1903. The silver miniature trophy has a few minor dints and bumps and remnants of old polish are visible in the recesses of the scroll handles. The hallmark, Henry Williamson Ltd Birmingham, possibly 1901, is quite rubbed. The plated spoons are in good condition with two being stamped EPNS.
