Lot 562

Lot Description

A pair of early nineteenth century silver mounted spectacles, circa 1830, with extendable arms and oval lenses. Hallmarked Francis Clark Birmingham, date letter illegible. Length when folded closed 4 1/4 inches (11 cm), gross weight 21 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The spectacles are in fair to poor condition, with general scratches and wear from use over time. The right lens has a small chip out of the glass, however the remaining glass is still firmly inside the frame. The hinges are rather loose with some sideways movement to the arms. The extendable pieces on the arms of the glasses slide smoothly and reach the full length. The hallmarks present are quite rubbed but are still visible on close inspection, no date letter visible.
