Victorian silver small cylindrical case, decorated all over with floral motifs and scrolling foliage and a central crested circular panel, detachable lid to both ends, one with conforming decoration, the other with a spinning top finial, hallmarked London 1854, maker possibly John Howes, length including finial measures 4 inches (10 cm); together with an early twentieth century silver tea strainer, hallmarked William Suckling Ltd., Birmingham 1929, length measures 5 7/8 inches (15 cm). Gross combined weight 2.71 ozt (84.4 grams) (2).

Condition Report
Both items display general wear, some tarnishing and surface marks and scratches in keeping with the age and use. The cylindrical case has one large dint to one side and some smaller ones. Some loss of detail to the decoration. Hallmarks slightly rubbed but still legible. One of the lids is also has full set of hallmarks, which are clear and legible. The lid with the finial does not appear to be struck with hallmarks. The rim on this lid is a little dinted and the inner flange is very misshapen and dinted. Tea strainer displays normal wear and tarnishing and various nicks and marks around the rim. Hallmarks clear and legible.
