Lot Description
Late Victorian silver cigarette case of plain oblong form, with engraved monogram to one side and crest to the other, hallmarked Birmingham 1886, measuring 8 cm by 6 cm; together with a plain silver vesta case of slightly curved form, also with engraved monogram to one side, Birmingham 1900, measuring 5 cm by 4.7 cm. Gross combined weight 102.4 grams.

Condition Report
Both cases display general wear, tarnishing and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. The cigarette case in particular has numerous surface dints, especially to the hinged cover and the two bottom corners. Some loss of detail to crest engraving. Hinged cover in good working order. Gilded interior is now quite worn. Maker's mark obscured but hallmarks are clear and legible. Vesta case is very tarnished and has some minor surface nicks and dints . Hinged cover in good working order. Hallmarks clear and legible.
