Lot Description

A German import combination vesta and cigarette case of oblong form with dual hinges, the body with creamy green guilloché enamel with vertical engine turned decoration and opening to reveal a gilt interior. Import marks for Germany and the maker's mark G.A.S for Georg Adam Scheid. Measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) by 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm), weight 5.5 ozt (171 grams).

The cigarette case displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use and would benefit form a clean and polish. Numerous scratches visible to the enamel along with a chip to the reverse corner of the enamel. The hinges appear in good working order, the lid rising very slightly when closed. The gilding to the interior displays general wear, faint crude personal inscription to the interior. German import marks distorted. The cigarette case is likely to date to turn of the century.
