Lot Description

Nineteenth century Dutch silver box of circular form with frilled rim, the hinged cover engraved with floral and scrolling foliate motifs, lion passant standard mark present alongside a further struck mark and a date letter possibly for 1859, rim diameter measures 5.7 cm;  together with two further nineteenth century Dutch boxes, one of rectangular form, the other of shaped square form, both with similar engraved decoration to the hinged lids and struck with the lion passant standard mark and date letters possibly for 1876 and 1872, measuring 7.7 cm length and 5 cm square respectively.  Combined weight 108 grams.

Total lot weight: No

All three boxes are quite heavily tarnished and display general wear and surface marks and scratches.  There are some deeper scratches in places and various minor nicks and surface dints all over.  The frilled rim on the base of the circular box is slightly misshapen in one area.  The hinged lids on each box are all in working order.  There are contact marks to the inner flanges.  All boxes bear the lion passant mark and other marks including date letters and Minerva head.  Each interior bears remnants of stickers, which are possibly hiding further marks?
