Lot Description
A mid nineteenth century French snuff box of slim rectangular form with reeded base and edge, the hinge lid chased with a decorative scroll surround to a central stylised image of Aesop's Fable The Fox and the Stalk. Stamped with the Minerva head guarantee mark for 800, further small guarantee mark and maker's mark CJ. Length measuring 7.3 cm, weight 46.68 grams.

Condition Report
The snuff box appears in good overall condition with general scratches, marks and wear. There is a small tarnished area to the reeded underside of the box. The hinge is slightly stiff but still opens fully. The Minerva head appears clear, further guarantee mark and makers mark distorted.
