Lot Description
William IV silver snuff box of oblong form, the hinged cover with basket weave decoration and central rectangular plaque with presentation engraving, the underside with conforming decoration. Hallmarked William Simpson, Birmingham 1834. Measuring 55 mm by 30 mm, weight 22.5 grams.

Condition Report
The snuff box displays general wear, tarnishing and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. There are various minor nicks and dints in the metal, the main dint being to one of the corners. Some slight loss of detail to the basket weave decoration. Hinged lid in good working order. Interior was probably once gilded but is now very faded, various contact marks and scratches. Flange to lid is slightly misshapen. Hallmarks are a little rubbed and distorted but still legible.
