Lot Description

A Victorian silver-gilt vinaigrette of oblong form and curved ends with  engine turned decoration, scroll borders, a vacant applied shield shaped cartouche and opening to reveal a foliate pierced and hinged grille. Hallmarked Cronin & Wheeler Birmingham 1848. Length 5 cm, weight 25.63 grams.

The vinaigrette is in good condition with general scratches, marks and wear. The hinges to the lid and the grille are in good working order and open fully. There are a few small dints to the inside. The gilding has worn particularly to the high areas. The hallmarks remain visible and legible.
