Lot Description
Victorian silver vinaigrette of ovoid form of part fluted form, floral scroll border and beaded rim, the detachable lid with embracing figurative finial opening to reveal a hinged pierced grille, the body on suspension chain. Hallmarked Birmingham 1888, maker's mark indistinct. Maximum height measuring 5.5 cm, weight 16.4 grams.

Condition Report
The vinaigrette displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Small dints and bumps visible with light rubbing to the definition of the detail to the decoration. A repair is visible to the rim of the lid with loss to the beading. The grille has slightly distorted in shape, due to difficulty in being opened. The lid does not shut securely. The hallmarks are quite distorted, maker's mark illegible.
