Lot Description
A late 19th century continental gold amethyst peacock brooch. The oval-shape amethyst, within a tri-colour scrolling foliate surround with peacock decoration. Estimated amethyst weight 28cts. Length 5.2cms. Weight 16.6gms.

Condition Report
The lot is in fair overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There is wear to the tri-colour finish. There is a small section of the leftmost peacocks tail. There are more noticeable dents visible to the back of the brooch. There is discolouration/tarnish. The pin is bent, possibly a replacement. The diamonds appear bright and well matched, estimated total diamond weight . Individual diamonds too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades. The amethyst is a medium, slightly reddish purple hue with light, eye visible inclusions and minor abrasions. The front of the brooch tests as 18ct gold and the back as 22ct gold.
