Lot 146

Lot Description

Early twentieth century small silver rose bowl, of plain circular form with moulded girdle detail and raised above a domed circular foot, with metal mesh insert, hallmarks partly distorted but probably Birmingham 1909;  together with a modern silver bonbon dish of quatrefoil form and engraved with a personal inscription to the centre, hallmarked Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1971. Rim diameters of both measure 4 3/4 inches (12 cm), combined weight 6.62 ozt (206 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both items display general wear, some areas and spots of tarnishing and general surface marks and scratches.  The rose bowl has some deeper scratches to some areas, especially some visible to the interior, and there are several minor surface dints.  Knock to the foot rim so that it is slightly misshapen and remnants of polish to some areas.  Hallmarks are quite rubbed and distorted, especially date letter and maker's mark.  The mesh insert is damaged and broken in places.  Hallmarks on the modern dish are clear and legible.
