Lot Description
William IV silver topped glass vanity jar of long rectangular form and a smaller similar example, each with detachable silver lid having a reeded rim and with scrolled foliate piercing to the top around a circular initialled panel, the jar with star cut base. Silver hallmarked Francis Douglas, London 1836. Lengths measure 7 inches (17.8 cm) and 5 inches (12.7 cm).

Condition Report
Both vanity jars display general wear and surface marks and scratches in keeping with their age and use. Both silver lids are quite tarnished all over and there are some deeper scratches in places and also some minor nicks in the metal. Hallmarks still clear and legible. Both glass jars display some deeper and longer scratches, especially to the underside. Each also has various small rim and edge chips, and especially one larger corner chip to the smaller jar.
